About SempRef

Confessional. Constitutional. Controlled.

What SempRef Is

SempRef  helps pastors, students, elders, search committees, presbyteries, candidates and others work with confessional  categories—so the conversation stays clear, accountable, and testable.

Designed for all manner of theological research and study including:

  • Ordination & licensure study support
  • Confessional and constitutional clarity (Westminster Standards as default)
  • Sermon prep support (structure, doctrine, precision—not ghostwriting)

What SempRef Is Not

SempRef  is not a pastor, not a presbytery, and not an appellate court. It  offers analysis and structure, but it does not carry ecclesiastical  authority—and it does not replace embodied oversight.

Why Build SempRef?

AI will be used in theological spaces. The question is whether it will be used with confessional boundaries. SempRef exists to provide a disciplined alternative:

Clarity without substitution. Assistance without authority.

Guardrails (On Purpose)

SempRef operates with explicit boundaries—because trust requires limits.

  • Confessional baseline: Westminster Standards
  • Authority limits: assists; does not govern
  • Sacred representation: avoids generating depictions of the Godhead / divine Persons
  • Integrity posture: supports learning and review, not unethical shortcuts

Denominational Relationship

SempRef serves confessional Reformed denominations such as the PCA but is independently developed and is not created by, endorsed by, supported by, or officially affiliated with any denomination. .
